Leaf It To Rusk is an annual fall weekend sponsored by the Greater Ladysmith Area Chamber of Commerce with events throughout Rusk County. The kick-off is Friday (September 27, 2019) evening with a beer, wine & cheese event followed by various events throughout Saturday and Sunday (September 28 & 29, 2019).

Events include: chairlift rides at Christie Mountain, activities at Toad House, guided hikes in the Blue Hills, Rusk County garage sales, and events downtown, including a car & tractor show, live local music, and more!

Beer, Wine & Cheese Tasting Event

September 27th, 2019

6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Worden Avenue Exchange in Ladysmith, WI

2019 is going to be the best Beer, Wine & Cheese Tasting Event yet! Around a dozen local craft beers straight from four area breweries (Heart of the North, Valkyrie, Moonridge, and Round Man),  more cheeses straight from four Wisconsin creameries and cheese makers (Ellsworth Coop Creamery, Maple Hill Farm, Marieke Gouda, and Barron County Cheese), delicious appetizers from The Pickled Gill and Ladysmith Fresh Market, a selection of great Wisconsin wines, and Wisconsin craft soda from Point Soda! Plus 50/50 raffles every hour!

Gundy’s Canyon Guided Hike

Event Location: Blue Hills – Meet at the Old Weyerhaeuser School and carpool from there

Take a guided hike through the beautiful Blue Hills to Gundy’s Canyon.

$11/person due by September 21st – Click here to purchase tickets

Sack Lunch is Included.

Limited to 20 people.

The Hike is approximately 3 miles round trip. Appropriate clothing and footwear are required. The hiking terrain is uneven, hilly, and may be slippery.

Felsenmeer Guided Hike

Sunday September 29 10:30 AM 

Event Location: Blue Hills – Meet at the Old Weyerhaeuser School and carpool from there

The Felsenmeer is a German word meaning “sea of rocks.” There are several of these formations in the area, but the most famous is in the Blue Hills which was created at the time of the last glaciation. The Felsenmeer is 82 feet deep and about 1,000 feet long.

Rusk County Historical Museum

Friday September 27, Saturday September 28, & Sunday September 28 11:00 Am to 3:00 PM

998 E. 3rd St. N. Ladysmith

Learn about the rich history of Rusk County through the wide variety of displays that include logging history, antique farm machinery, rail history, WW I & II artifacts, antiques, Little Red Schoolhouse, Log Cabin and more.  The wedding dresses display showcases pioneer Rusk County couples; the vintage doll display showcases many German-made dolls from the early 1900’s that were owned by Rusk County children.   Check out the enlarged and improved military display. The farm display has several working, hand-operated pieces used during the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. Be sure to visit our newly opened 20’s house and Ed’s Plow Museum.

Design and build your scarecrow entry for Scarecrows on Parade!

Win one of 3 prizes, provided by Ladysmith Mainstreet (in the Families Division)
(Business and organization entries win 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons)
1st prize–$50.
2nd prize–$30.
3rd prize–$20.

On August 31st and September 7 families and businesses or organizations can come to Toad
House to build their scarecrow—or you can build your scarecrow at home or at the top of the
bridge with materials that will be available.

If you build your scarecrow at Toad House, you can bring special touches from home or take
your scarecrow home to decorate further. Bring your scarecrow to the top of the bridge and
secure firmly to the posts provided by September 8. Fill out a card, naming your scarecrow and
write a few words or story about him or her. Attach the card to your friendly scarecrow with
safety pins provided, after placing it in a plastic bag—also provided.

Voting begins on Monday, the 9th through the 16th. Winners will be called and prizes for the
children/family category will be given by Mayor Alan Christianson of the Mainstreet Program at
Toad House at 10:00 am on the 28th of September. (During Toadally Artsy Kids’ Event)

We hope your scarecrow is sturdy enough to brave a few weeks of weather! And when it is time,
please remove all traces of your friend the first week of October
